More Joy

1. I do plan to get this going again. I have a small seed fund for it. What I'm wondering-- would people still want to participate if that money went to a predetermined charity instead of back into their pockets? Last year's total would have donated more than $2000 to a cause. Thoughts?

2. I have at least two people who never gave me a place to send their More Joy money. If that's you, please tell me what to do with your money.

Birthday reminder

As is traditional, I'm telling you now that my birthday is on the 10th. This is your only reminder. Spare me the cries later of "but you never told us!" I have. Right now.

This is actually unrelated to the above item. I just needed to give myself a reminder that I need to prioritize my list of wants so that I can budget for them. There was a prioritization app out there somewhere that I wish I could find again. It was cool.

I'm glad my roommate is grocery shopping today. We're out of, like, everything.

When did LJ put that "select tags" link on their update page? I has a fond!

Last week!

Guys, guys, guys! I'm so proud of you! You've made it through a whole year of stretching for your goals. There may have been some slips and falters but you all did an amazing job.

I'm going to take a bit of a breather for a month or so but More Joy will be back in some form or another, I promise.

So, one last time for this year of Joy, tag in, tell me if you made your goals and MAKE SURE to tell me where you would like your More Joy money to go. If it's a charity, link me to their donation page.

Great job this year, everyone. Thank you so much for participating.

Almost done. Posting this a bit late because, well, sleep was necessary and strangely hard to come by.

Anyway, after 51 weeks, you know how this works. I'm going to take another nap now.

I'm at my aunt's house. It's all bustle and go here but that's the holidays for you.

The real question is how you're doing? Don't think that the holidays gave you a free pass.

Two weeks left! Go, go, go!
silensy: (Gimme some sugar)
We're almost done, guys. Pick yourselves up, dust yourselves off and pick a goal for the last month of this project.

If you made it this week, tag in and let me know how it's going.

If you didn't make it, you have three weeks left. Go, go, go!

Happy Hannukah, the festival of perseverance! [look, I'll make up my own interpretations to fit my needs if I want to.]

Have you persevered this week? Let me know.

And now, time for chocolate.

I'm totally chair dancing to Somebody to Love right now. That has precisely nothing to do with this post. Neither does the fact that I got my nails done today.

What does have to do with this post is that I hit a personal goal today of getting my net worth back to where it was before I moved. I feel like this is a good place to go into 2010.

How about you? How did you do this week? What's next year going to look like for you? Looking back over the last 47 weeks, what's improved for you?

Comments are screened, as always.

Though there are 6 weeks (5 1/2 technically, I suppose) left before the official last check-in day of January 8, 2010, it occurred to me that people might like their earnings for the holiday season. You know, for presents, bills, buying yourself that thing no one else is going to get you...

You don't have to do this now, it's merely an offer. We still have 6 more goals to make after all.

So! Comments screened as always, if you'd like to get a payout, I need one of two things:

1. A paypal address
2. An address and your real name (for checks/gift cards)

If you want your earnings to be a donation (and you want a payout right now, not if you want it later.) I need:

1. Where to donate & in whose name. Links would be best.

Don't know how much you have on tap (if any)? Below the cut, current earnings by participant number (minus any previous payouts) )

It's Friday, do you know what your goals are?

You know the drill. Comments are screened, just comment in and tell me if you made this week or not.

Less than two months to go, it's a great time to jump back into making your goals if you've fallen off them.

Not that you guys need the encouragement. In fact, the participants of More Joy have earned a collective $1830 this year so far. (That's an average of $40 weekly, in case you were thinking this is a savings program you could never ever keep up with.)

So well done, goal aspiring friends. Let's keep this good thing going. Tag in and tell me how you did this week.

It's getting dark so early here. Full dark by the time I leave. Sadly, this dark isn't translating into something like weather. Alas.

The discussion post from last week still wants your feedback, please.

This week just wants your yes or no on goal meeting. You know the drill.
silensy: (It's a choice. // Actions have consequen)
Okay, as I mentioned in the last post, I'm going to have to change how I'm doing things next year for More Joy. While I have no problem at all with the (so far) $1775 earned by all the hard work from the More Joy participants, I do think that it's not going to be sustainable for me.

I have two choices--limit the number of people that I accept (probably under 10, there are 16 now) or try to figure out how to do a sponsorship kind of thing where your $5 comes from someone supporting you in your goal that isn't me. Anyone have any good thoughts?

Comments are not screened on this post.

Getting this done early today. I've been working on a novel recently (not NaNo, just regular writing) and I like where I am with it.

Enough about me. How are your goals going so far?

And for another important question. We're less than ten weeks away from the end of the More Joy year--does anyone want to cash out now? Save it for later?

I'm also thinking about how to do this next year. There'll be another post shortly for discussion about that. Discussion post here.

Life, the Universe and Everything.

Including your goals! As in tell me if you made them.

Also, today I am green. Not as much as my icon though.
silensy: (Charlie is the Man)
This week has been stupid levels of busy. In about 15 minutes, I'm going to go home, open a bottle of wine and unwind.

But before then, we're going to check in with goals! How did you do this week? Did you get things done? Are you a rock star of the highest order?

And am I missing a reply from you?

W37: 3, 12, 15
W38: 3, 5, 12
W39: 3, 4, 5, 9, 12, 13, 16
W40: 3, 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 15

The road goes ever on and on...

The vodka-cranberries had their revenge. I'm attempting to recover from...I don't know, maybe swine flu? Who knows. It's wicked though.

For this week, tell me if you made your goal. Also tell me how you're doing. I worry. I love you, guys.

silensy: (God is a know it all)
I'm in Denver and it's cold. But neither rain, nor sleet, nor several vodka-cranberries can keep me from posting the weekly more joy check in.

The last one can keep me from listing out missed weeks though.

You know the drill.
silensy: (Am I blue?)
Every week I have to keep double checking the number because I'm convinced that it can't possibly be this late in the year. But it is! 38 weeks down, 14 weeks to go and a total of $1595 earned.

You people are bankrupting me.

Missing weeks!

Week 34: NONE - All answered
Week 35: 9, 12, 15
Week 36: 3, 4, 6, 9, 12
Week 37: 1, 3, 4, 9, 12, 15
silensy: (Big Damn Heroes BoB)
Once again, I remembered to do this because I have a google calendar reminder set up. Oh my life, you'd be so lost without Google. Without it, I am very literally reduced to sitting and staring blankly at the screen, hitting refresh endlessly.

But enough about me!

I'm about to head out of here for the weekend but before I do, tell me about your goals!

Also, missing weeks:

Week 33: 2, 6
Week 34: 2
Week 35: 5, 9, 12, 13, 15
Week 36: 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 13
silensy: (Space is for everybody)
In case you missed it in the feed explosion this afternoon, the More Joy tag-in post is back here and contains a special challenge for participation beyond the project:

Here's a little extra homework: reach out to someone. Someone you've lost touch with, someone you want to get to know better, someone who looks like they need a smile. Spread a little joy.
