I'm supposed to be writing an article for work that's due, um, now.

Naturally this means I cannot focus on it. So in an attempt to at least get my brain to the writing place at all, I'm taking drabble requests. I don't know if I'll be able to finish any of them but I hope I will.

There's a grace to tea ceremonies, a tradition out of reach to the plain and simple way that Jayne was raised. He comes from plain stock, good stock. From earth and sweat and work and there are times that he fears to be in the same room as their ambassador. His mind conjures poetry--long lost from Earth that Was. She walks in beauty like the night and he doesn't know what it means except that it means her smile and her touch and the curl of her lips at the edge of her teacup when he finally, finally, gets the ceremony right.

Seventh year ends in blood and fire and a ribbon in Ravenclaw blue tied like a lady's favor around her knight's arm. The war is over and by most reckonings they've won. The fallen would buried--when they could be found. Those who could not would receive a memorial but not the one they deserved. Michael chose to make his memorial what he had left of her. A smile, a wish, a whispered confession and a ribbon. She'd given it without fear. He'd taken it without hesitation. And even now, neither could regret it though her memories fade and his heart breaks.

It's entirely unfair that Dick can eat anything and not gain an ounce of weight. It's doubly unfair that Tim actually listened to her when she told him not to let her eat any more today and now he and Dick are sharing a churro without her. Dick would give her some if she asked but Tim would give her one of those looks and she'd feel so guilty and she really doesn't want to work out another hour just for a couple bites of flaky...soft...chewy... She snatches the last bite from Tim's hand. "Sex counts as exercise," she explains as Dick laughs.

"Look, I think there's been some kind of mistake." Steph held up her hands, backing away slowly from the mob of frat boys--only frat boys would dress like that, right?--in front of her. The spears were kinda weird and whatever they were speaking it was Greek to...oh fuck. "Oh. My. God."

The movement is a blur and then Steph's hair is in her face, flattened there by the wind and...was that ocean! Why were they over ocean? How were they over ocean? Who the hell was they anyway?

They stopped and she was breathless and he was laughing. "You rang?"
