Okay, so Stephanie Brown is the new Batgirl and because consistency in a heroic look is only for the big three, this means a redesign.

Holy fuck, do I ever love this redesign. I covet her boots, I love the eggplant in her cape (so long as I don't Fridge Logic the Spoiler connection.) I adore the V detail on the back. I'm even good with her Liefield pouches.

Also, seriously, this girl re-invents herself more than anyone except Dick. Or Roy. Hmm, how many three costume vigilantes are there at this point?

Also, I see Steph's belt coming up as a point of contention in some of the linked comments and it occurred to me that, you know, the belt's not actually all that much more impractical than the hair (which if it's long enough to come around her shoulders like that is long enough to get in her mouth at inconvenient moments, and maybe even her eyes during backflips and odd wind conditions and things) and way less than the cape, thank you Edna Mode. But everybody just takes loose hair and flowing capes for granted, they're genre staples.

I guess what I mean is identities. So Steph=Spoiler, Robin IV, Batgirl III; Dick=Robin I, Nightwing, Batman II; Roy=Speedy, Arsenal, Red Arrow (*snicker*); etc. Tim doesn't count unless you include Mr Sarcastic.

I'm psyched to be getting this book, I can't believe that I only picked it up on a whim. I didn't know that a costume change was coming (I'm pretty terrible at keeping up with news/spoilers these days) but I'm guessing that's what the Babs convo will center around. I'm happy that you're happy. :)
